Tools I Use

Coaching

Coaching is a specific field that emerged over 30 years ago to help people get the best from themselves. It is one of the fastest growing professions because it fills the void left by psychotherapy, mentoring or consulting. As a field, coaching subscribes to its own set of methods derived from the behavioral sciences, humanities, spiritual traditions and business. Concepts from these disciplines are woven into a coaching conversation to help the client become self aware and take action. I don't subscribe to a particular curriculum or program during my coaching sessions, because they are totally client centered. My technique incorporates coaching principles, NLP, and hynpotherapy to serve my client's agenda. My coaching sessions are prescriptive (meaning diagnostic testing, homework, etc) only at my client's request. My five point coaching system is more of a rough outline and consists of helping my client to:

1) Imagine a compelling future.

2) Create a plan of action.

3) Achieve a well formed outcome.

4) Optimize performance for enhanced results.

5) Celebrate their success!

NLP

NLP is an acronym for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It was developed back in the 1970’s by a computer programming student named Richard Bandler and a professor of linguistics named John Grinder, hence the name. Neuro refers to our brain, linguistic refers to language, and programming refers to the structure of our experience. Anthony Robbins, motivational speaker and coach, was one of the first to take NLP to the mainstream back in the 1980’s. NLP has been called the science of achievement, because it is based on modeling excellence in highly successful people. NLP is a cutting edge science used to create strategies for success. NLP helps you draw out the best from yourself and others. You will become more conscious of your behavior patterns, in order to improve your performance in any area you desire. NLP is like the user manual that SHOULD have come with our brains. It helps us harness the power of our minds to create the live we truly want. It works nicely with coaching. NLP is analogous to the operating system in a computer, and coaching is analogous to an application within that o.s. During my coaching sessions, I operate with the NLP presuppositions as the o.s. and use my coaching tools to facilitate my client’s self awareness and empowerment. I use NLP processes during the coaching session, in so far as they fulfill my client’s agenda.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy has been around for centuries! Franz Mesmer used hypnotherapy back in 1715 to cure illness by guiding the imaginations of his clients. Hynotherapy is a scientifically verified technique which involves accessing the subconscious mind for rapid change. Hypnotherapy can improve performance, health, confidence, relationships, concentration, memory recall and creativity. It can also help with pain relief; overcoming habits, addictions, overcoming fears and phobias, stress reduction, and healing past traumas. I use conversational hypnosis during my coaching sessions. Often I will do brief hypnotic interludes during my coaching sessions when appropriate and according to my client’s agenda.
